On Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, Astra hosted space tech day 2023 at their headquarters in Alameda, California, where they talked about information about Rocket 4, launch system 2, and Astra Spacecraft Engine.

To start off, The current Rocket Four vehicle line was supposed to be for Rocket 5, steel goes in one end of the line and a rocket comes out from the other end. This production line is designed to produce a rocket a day and the capacity of the machine shop has doubled.

On the vehicle testing side, multiple new test stands have been built to test every part of the rocket.

Astra hopes to start test flights by the end of the year. Qualification hardware is slated to being testing in a few weeks with the first-stage engines being part of the testing campaign. The second-stage engine is already qualified and ready for flight, and the 1st stage 2 tank was built.

Launch System 2.0

An all-new data platform has been built for launch system 2.0, allowing Astra to gain more data from their launch vehicle, also a new launch system simulator has been built to simulate every part of the launch system and all critical components now go through a new quality control lab to ensure they are thoroughly tested.

The Astra spacecraft engine has now carried out over 800 on-orbit burns, with 9 engines being in orbit, a brand new propulsion kit has been developed with over 5 already sold.
