Axiom Space, the private Houston based company, revealed their new Artemis moon suits at the Moon 2 Mars festival being held at NASAs Johnson space center in Houston. The Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) that was showed at the event was only a prototype however Axiom expects to get the full fleet of suits delivered later this summer. Axiom developed the AxEMU to be more flexible, and be more resistant to the harsh environments on the lunar surface. Even though the suit showed off at the event was black the actual suit will be white as the suit has to reflect heat from the sun, the current black layer is being used to conceal the suits proprietary design. The suit was designed in collaboration with Esther Marquis who is a costume designer on the hit Apple TV+ series “For All Mankind.” The suit is slated to fly on the Artemis III mission slated for 2025.
